How to receive Non-Stock parts with Epicor9

Guys, all of you, thanks so much for the input.   We found if we set up a “default” warehouse/bin for receiving in Plant Setup, it will automatically populate those fields so I think we are good!!

I am running E10.700.4 and it also has the same exact problem that you describe

Epicor told me that it is fixed in E10.1

They also told me that if you have the advanced material management module that it doesn’t have that problem.

Problem is that I have the basic material module.

With all of my “other” PO’s I have to fill in a warehouse and bin and there is no way around it

We just recently upgraded to Epicor9 from Vantage8 and we cannot figure out the correct method for “receiving” part that are non-stock (ie MRO type things).   It is requiring us to enter a valid warehouse and bin to receive them to but we never had to do this with Non-stock parts with Vantage8.   These are just items that we order, like wipes, glue, etc that we just receive and take to their owners.  These aren’t parts that we have in the system.   What are we supposed to do.  We don’t want to “receive” inventory of these type things….Any help would be greatly appreciated

Your PO must be marked as OTHER.  There are 4 types of PO’s.  Inventory, Job Material, Sub Contract and Other.

Miguel,

All of the parts on this PO ARE marked as “other”. When we receive start a new receipt line in Receipt entry, and say the receipt line as other, the system STILL will not let us save the received line without a warehouse/bin location entered. Â

I went to the test and there has to be a Valid WH and BIN, but when you receive it, it does not hit inventory.

Mike - We had the same issue with receiving parts that are not in the part master when upgrading to 9.05. Because these are "other" parts not in the part master there was no default warehouse and bin pulling in, but Epicor would require it to be entered upon receipt -> makes no sense if you ask me, but system was requiring it. I did a simple BPM to set the warehouse and bin on the receipt. Not sure if that was the right thing to do, but it was easy to just do a bpm and we have not seen any ramifications.

Our WH and BIN default to the Company defaults.

This is a known bug, we came up with the same question when we went from 8.0 to 10 and although receipt of the "other" items asks for a whse/bin it does not do anything with the info you fill in.

This is supposed to be fixed in 10.1.

We went live onto 9.05.702A almost 1 year ago. We haven’t had any problems on receiving “other” items. We set up a default warehouse / bin for each plant in System Management > Company Maintenance > Plant Configuration Control > Plant > Modules > Inventory Management > General. All receipts default to the location or are overridden at time of receipt. Perhaps this may provide a solution for your application.

Gary - to get around it for now you can make a BPM to automatically fill in the warehouse and bin with your defaults. That's what we did and it works great.Â

We are on 9.05 so it may be different on 10... but below is how ours is set-up:

Method Directive
Business Object:Â Receipt
Method: CommitRcvDtl
Pre-Processing
Conditions: the RcvDtl.ReceivedTo field of the added row is equal to the "PUR-UKN" expression
Actions: set the RcvDtl.WarehouseCode field of the added row to "CLI" expression    (where "CLI" is our default warehouse)
and set the RcvDtl.BinNum field of the added row to "CLI" expression      (where "CLI" is our default bin)

Hope this helps,
Sarah
