"Non-Stock" part setup to auto receipt to inventory

This might me a silly question but does setting up a part as “non-stock” affect it’s ability to also be setup as an “auto receipt to inventory”? We have a part that is setup as non-sotck but it will not auto-receive to inventory off the job when it’s completed.

Is the job demand link make to stock, order or job?

Brad

Brad, it’s make to order.

I found that in E9, Epicor would let you double dip if the auto receipt to inventory is set on for make to order non-stock parts that are shipping from WIP.

It will put a MFG-CUS transaction in and it will put a MFG-STK transaction in.

This can cause problems…

You could decide to change the job demand link to make to stock and then manually put the job quantity into inventory.

Brad, if I change it to a “stock part”, do you think our problem will go away?

What results do you need?

Brad

If you set it to a stock part the jobs will want to be created by MRP.

If you want the the make to order jobs leave it as non-stock and uncheck
the auto receipt flag on the method.

Brad

We want it to auto receive to inventory correctly

Auto Receive only works if the job has a Make To Stock demand link and the final operation is checked as Auto Receive.

The Sales Order Release defaults to Make Direct = true if the Part is checked as Non-Stock and false if Non-Stock is false.

You have a couple options to get the Auto Receive to work for a Non-Stock part…

  1. Change the Sales Release so that the Make Direct checkbox is false, create a Job with a Make To Stock demand link and check the final operation as Auto Receive. When Time and Expense is submitted for the final operation, the inventory will be increased by the Labor Qty reported.

  2. Leave the Sales Release as Make Direct = true, create a Job with a Make To Order demand link and set the Production Qty to 0 and the Pull from Inventory to the Sales Release Qty. Then create a second, Make To Stock, demand link with the production qty required and mark the final operation as Auto Receive. When Time and Expense is submitted for the final operation, the inventory will be increased by the Labor Qty reported.

Thanks Brian, that REALLY helps…
