Inactive Parts - Enhancement

From what I can remember from the user group meeting, there was going to be
an obsolete flag for items not yet inactive. The flag is intended to show
up anywhere the part number would come up. It was not finalized yet, so we
didn't get much detail.

My notes from the MN Vantage Users Group meeting last Tuesday indicate this
was discussed as coming in 5.2. A way to flag a part as "obsolete".

Would anyone else be interested in the added functionality of the "Active",
"InActive" check box on a part to also be able to select or set a part to
"BeingPhaseOut". Which to me would mean it's not InActive yet but you
better
not over run any quantities or over purchase any associated items.

Isn't that something like what the inactive box does now? You can still use
it if you type it in basically anywhere. This is one of the enhancements we
have been looking for in 5.2 as well. That is making the inactive check
box, prevent further transactions or at least give a warning in large clear
print "THE PART YOU ARE SELECTING IS MARKED INACTIVE, ARE YOU SURE?"
followed by another warning if they select yes, maybe another color saying
"YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK WITH ENGINEERING TO BE SURE!". Around here, users
find it much faster to type parts in than search for them from the list, so
marking something as inactive has no effect on the ability to pull something
into a job, SO, PO or basically anything. Anyway, I am told something is in
the works and can't wait to get my hands on that Beta of 5.2 to see.
