Increase Mfg requirements

Hi,
I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are asking, but here is my shot
at it. I assume you are linking the sales order directly to the job. You
can add a quantity to run to stock and it will increase the job.
Thanks,

I'm hoping someone out there may have had this same request or can help me
with a possible solution.

I have been asked if there is a way, using Vantage, to increase the demand
for each delivery of a part, above the requirement within the sales order.

-----I know that if I enter a Min On Hand Qty, that it will increase the
demand for that qty, if I am below that qty. But, we would like the
increase to show in time phase or suggestions for each release of a sales
order line.

-----I thought about using the scrap qty in the routing steps, but that
would not change the prod qty for the job and sub-assemblies.

Thank you for any ideas!

Try a NotFirm Sales Order release or a dummy sales order for the same
customer or yourself as a customer or try the MRP Module and enter a
Forecast.

Joy,

Since we are still in 3.0 and do not have the MRP module or a forecast
feature, we find that the only other way to increase the demand is to
alter the Job sent to the floor. We almost always do this as most of
our customer contracts allow for up to 10 percent overage shipment to
allow us to give them optimum pricing. You can increase the quantity
requirements in the following ways. We have not had any real trouble
yet with any method, but maybe others have. If any others see any
problems with any of these, please respond.

Methods 1,2 & 3 are essentially the same.
1. You can go into the "Job Entry" and click on "Links". If you
have not already linked the sales order to the job, then hit the link
button under "Demand". If you have already linked the sales order,
simply hit update to the link under "Demand Links" and increase the
quantity to the number you want. You will get a warning that you are
making more than the sales order requests and simply acknowledge this
with a "yes" answer.

2. You can go into the "Job Entry" and click on "Links". and click
on "Add" and add the quantity under "Make To Order" under the Demand
Links section.

3. You can go into the "Job Entry and click on "Job" "Update" (job
Not Engineered) and click on "Add" button under "Links". The quantity
can be added just like 1 or 2 above.

4. Most all of our jobs have more than one assembly, and if they
don't we always have the first assembly, "0", used to control the job
release cycle and close cycle with their own operations. You can then
go to a lower level assembly, e.g. "1" in our case for final assembly
and pack-out. At that assembly double-click on the assembly and enter
your additional quantity to the "Overrun Qty" box.

The one problem with number 4, depending on your point of view, is that
the total job quantity is not reflected in the Job Status Report, but it
is reflected in the job travelers and all other areas where the required
manufacturing quantity is shown. We are currently using this method
because if the job appears to be running short, the shop people can look
at the Job Status Report and easily determine what are the minimum
quantity requirements to meet our customer contracts.

I hope this helps to answer your question.

Steve

Another option my be in version 5.0 where you can factor what the customer
orders and your qty. Would have to test first.
