Install problem 9.04

Nor do I on a production box, but this is a test environment and I'm trying to make it as simple as possible.

So much for simplicity. Oh well.

Trying to create a test environment to upgrade from 9.04.507A to 9.05.700B. Got myself a server with Server 2008 and SQL 2008R2, installed OE 10.1C with service pack and hotfix, now trying to install 9.04 but I get an error message "Can not find registry entry for Open Edge (10.1C). Install aborting."

Am I supposed to install SQL 2005 to get 9.04 installed, then patch 9.04 up to the 507A, then upgrade SQL to 2008, and THEN start upgrading to 9.05?

Confused,

The install for 10.1C may not have gone well, it just happens from time to
time, I would uninstall it, restart, then re-install 10.1C and then restart
and try to install 9.04.

Thanks for getting back Ned, but the real problem is the OE install routine.

I called support (since the basic uninstall/reinstall didn't work), and he sent me this:

Summary: OE - "Can not find registry entry for Progress Open Edge" when installing server
Book: Support Solutions
Page: 12816MPS

PAGE: 12816MPS

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When trying to install the Epicor server software (32bit version of Epicor on a 64bit Windows OS), I receive the following error message:

Can not find registry entry for Progress Open Edge (10.1c)
Install Aborting.

PROBLEM RESOLUTION:
The OpenEdge software was installed in the Program Files directory instead of the Program Files (x86) directory and the Epicor server software install couldn't locate it.

Uninstall OpenEdge 10.1c from the Windows Control Panel and reinstall OpenEdge into a non Program Files path (ex c:\epicor\oe101c).

VERSIONS:
8.03
9.04
9.05

Interesting, I wouldn't have thought of that because I never install
anything Epicor related to the C drive, let alone the Program Files or
Program Files (x86) folders.
