Line item cost on quote

Just create a generic part number for quotes only called “One-And-Done’s”

Added it to each quote and blob in the cost.

We have several generic part number just for quote’s to be a little more specific, gauges, surcharges, special fixtures, special dies, etc…..

Not sure I follow you.

I want to get our cost into the quote, so it can be used to calculate the gross profit for the whole quote.

Cost of manufactured items is calculated based on the MOM.

Cost of inventoried, non-mfg'd items is in pulled from the part's cost on file

It's the items we'll buy specifically for this job, and don't want to create a part in the part master for a one-and-done item.

Since you touched on it, what exactly is the difference between DocExpUnitPrice and ExpUnitPrice ??

BTW - we're on 8.03.409

Thanks again

I've made a report that runs like the Quote Worksheet report, but runs for the whole quote.  It works great, summing up the costs and prices of  manufactured and stocked line items.  But falls short when a Quote has a part on the fly that won't be manufactured, just purchased and resold.  Those lines have no cost associated with them.

Is there a way to enter a cost for a non-manufactured part on the fly, in Quote entry?

Take this pseudo quote

1. (1) XYZ-123 Solar Panel (a mfg'd part)

2. (1) SP-0001 Solar Panel Stand (a purchased and stocked part)

3. (1) INV-120 Inverter (P/N is not in the system, part will be purchased just for this order)

My report calculates the cost of Line 1 from the Engineering details, and pulls the cost of Line 2 from inventory data.  But the cost of Line 3 comes up as zero, making the order's total gross profit and margins incorrect.

I don't want to make the three lines into a single mfg Job, As I want them to appear on the Quote as separate line items.

Any advice?

Is this just a Quote Line / QuoteQty (with a cost)?
If so was QuoteDtl.DocExtPrice populated?
