Live labor data entry question, 6.1

Thanks to everyone for responding. It looks like we will go with
having the supervisors review the entries and make corrections
following each shift.

On a side note, I find it strange that Epicor did not factor
in "live" correction ability into "live" labor entry.

If you haven't already done so, make your accounting department aware
that the capture and post process must be done AFTER the data collection
errors have been corrected. Otherwise the LaborHed and LaborDtl will be
unalterable.



Email me direct and I will send you a progress report that your
supervisors can use to audit their workforce.

Yep this is what we do. Supervisors are to check labor before they
leave for the day. I have some one re-check all of labor before I run
capture for the month.

We use a daily production summary report that allows the supervisor to verify all the production completed for the day along with the employee's hours. It also identifies employees that are absent or who have not clocked out. They are required to have their adjust turned in by 7:30am.

I've never been able to get "employees that are absent or who have not
clocked out" to show up on a crystal report.

I edit weight counts and scrap entries of ended detail activities while users are still clocked in. I've created my own custom applications using the Labor Collector/Gateway to collect labor data. I scrapped the TT5's and designed my own front end application to populate the VTran.DBF file and use the Labor Collector to feed the information into Vantage. It works great and its designed as a touch screen app and also truly works with bar codes (using prefixes in the bar code identifies the data being scanned an populates the correct fields, not just a keyboard wedge that will place the barcode text in what ever field is currently selected. This is what Epicor calls supporting bar-coding, I guess with this logic one can say windows notepad supports bar-coding also).

Kind of a pity Epicor decided to dropped this with V8.x and trying to get bug fixes with the Labor Collector/Gateway is like pulling teeth with them even though we pay for support and according to them they still support ver 6.1 and the Labor Collector/Gateway is part of that support. After a few weeks of getting no where with my open incident, I wrote and sent them a block of code (4 lines actually and told them where it needs to be inserted) to fix the issue of not being able to clock into the same job at the same time on different machines (like one can do in Office Data Collection). They agreed to it, closed my incident, but I'm still waiting (three weeks) for them to put it in, compile it and send it back so I can test it. Nothing like paying for support but I have to write the fix code and then I can't even get them to compile it already.

Yes, open labor cards cannot be edited. You can correct the time cards
the next day or shift. What I have always suggested is to print the
labor edit report daily and give it to the supv/leads to review and make
corrections.
