Long wait to log-in

Do you have Norton or Other Anti-Virus Software installed? If so you
need to exclude some of the file types associated with vantage. We
had this problem for a few hours when we installed Norton until we
changed the exclusions.
Can anyone give some idea of what could be the problem in waiting a long
time to login? When you click the Vantage icon it can take up to 5 minutes
to get the login screen. Is that normal? The program seems not to drag,
just the login process. And we only have about 15 people actively using it
because we are not live yet.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

We were at over a minute to log in, but after I disabled the virus-checker
(Norton), it took about 10 seconds. In the end, it turned out to be the
auto-scan. So if you have auto-scanning enabled on the workstations, make
sure they are set not to scan the Vantage drive connection.

Mary,

Something is not right in paradise.

With the right setup you should be seeing login times of 15-20 seconds.

So now you need to provide details.

* Size and configuration of server
* Network configuration and speed
* Client PC's - size and configuration

Did the computer in question have a prior Vantage client on it? In other
words, have you upgraded from Vantage 4.0 to 5.x on this computer? If so,
you'll need to clean up the registry (even if you have un-installed the old
client). This has been discussed here a number of times.

If you need any help, you may contact me off the list.
