we went to Pilot and got the latest upgrade. When logging in, there was not anymore an option to select Menu Style (Classic/Modern/Kinetic). Even if one does not choose the option Try Kinetic in the Browser, it will anyway open it as Kinetic. The programs themselves seem to open as before: we use the Modern version ourselves still. Does anybody know if this will be the case, ie that the Menu will be as Kinetic from the next version onwards?

Yes, this was announced earlier. The classic and modern menus are being retired.

We made the announcement at Insights 2023 a year ago, and have been talking about this at nearly every user group meeting and could announcements since. There is only one menu style going forward. The “Classic” was the style that was developed over 20 years ago. the “Modern” (An unfortunate name) was a temporary version that was created before the Kinetic UI was fully in scope. The Forward going menu option is Kinetic and has the most flexibility.
Starting with 2024.1 the Kinetic menu is the only menu UI that we will support.

BUT ALSO NOTE: we STILL support the Smart Client Applications. it is ONLY the menu and home page that has changed to the Kinetic Menu structure and home page.

Thanks Tim & Mark: that’s the way forward then. We have not attended Insights in US due to the long & expensive travelling there from Finland (to Prague, however, I am coming, and we do not (as far as I know) have any user groups here, from where we could have received this information.
