Miscellaneous Purchases to a Job

You can add the material to the job (you can add a material to a job that is
not on the part master). At the time of po entry, select the Job Material
toggle. You can then enter the job number, assy number, and material. When
the material is received, it will be directly issued to the job.

Subject: [Vantage] Miscellaneous Purchases to a Job

V. 8.03.305

I know I have presented this question to a few of you in person and now
I wanted to throw it out to the larger population.

Is there a way to purchase a miscellaneous item (not part of my Part
Master) and receive it to a Job. One of the big items, at this time,
is tooling, which is not currently part of the Part Master but some day
will be. I have found two ways to do this and looking to see if I am
on the right track or way off. 1...Add the tooling item to the Job BOM
so that I can purchase to the Job. 2...Create a miscellaneous Job
(i.e. Tooling Job), that will remain open for just this purpose, and
setup the miscellaneous material, which now allows the purchase to be
made to the Job. Once it is received against the Tooling Job I can
perform a Job Receipt to Job transaction.

Everything I have tried is messy, but I am just looking for options.
Thanks.

A couple of things you could consider are:
1. When purchasing the item, your purchasing person can Add the
material to the job from the PO line interface. A little awkward but
easier than opening the job entry interface.

2. You could create a generic "misc material" line as part of a job
template (or MOM). Then your AP person could do a material "job
adjustment" at the time the vendor invoice is created.

Hopefull, others will offer more possibilities.

Later,
