Adding cost to job

You can add the cost of your tooling to the job without using an
existing part, without creating a purchasing suggestion, without
having to receive apart and without having to issue a part by
flagging it as a miscellaneous part. To do this, go to your job in
Job
Entry, go to the material pull down menu and go to add. A new
Material
Maintenance screen will appear -- make up a part number and
description, then check off the Miscellaneous Charge box, then select
a miscellaneous charge category and type in the cost. Hit OK, and you
will see the Misc charge appear as an issued material in your job.

Good Luck,

I am running 6.1 and I would like to be able to add expendable tooling
costs to my jobs.

I wish there was a way to do so without having to go through the tedious
way of adding a material.

The problem is that if I add a material that is not in my part master, I
can't accurately show cost. Is that correct?

For example, I add a material XYZ to a job, and it is not in the part
master. How can I issue this material with a cost?

Is anyone else doing something like this?

Thanks in advance,

Ben

you could purchase it directly to the job. but I think if you purchase it
as Other instead of an Inventory item, it then gets lost, so to speak, as
far as inventory dollars.

anyone else have something to add or to correct me on?

We buy it directly to the job as material. The purchase order is posted
to the job as well as the receipt. So the cost is on the job.

you are right, I did not completely relate what I was trying to say,

if you don't purchase and receive to the job, a non-inventory purchase is
not available in inventory to be issued to the job material.
