MRP suggested jobs

Based on some other feedback(Vic) as well Rob that's just the approach I
took... What I was attempting to do was semi - automate the firming of
jobs based on a 'firm' window that we have established with our
customers for each part. Essentially customer ReqDueDate - Firm Window
= Firm Date. We currently store this data in a UD field in the Part
Plant table. As a down and dirty solution I made a BAQ search with a
few calculated fields that the scheduler will use to firm jobs, he will
firm any jobs with a Firm Date of the current date.



This will go towards reducing MRP processing time, and give us an
accurate 'Firm' load for capacity planning in our system. For us, firm
means that our customer will honor the original purchase agreement if we
produce that part within the firm window (early deliveries not
withstanding).



I originally thought it might be simpler if this information resided at
the job head level for this purpose.

Can you work it another way?: Rather than trickery to get the unfirmed
jobs carry the data, use a BPM (or customization of app you use to firm
jobs) to bring desired ECO data into job at time of review (or actual
firming method invokation).
You'd think a BAM based on new unfirmed job record created by MRP could
trigger update of the unfirmed's as created - but I'd be leary about
running anything that might slow (or outright bugout) MRP.
W/out understanding intent/purpose more... Best I can offer.

I have tried and it won't work without some trickery on the SQL back
end.
