Multi-Company DIRECT

Hi Bruce,

Although we are multi-plant, we don't presently use multi-company functionality other than the BAQs and dashboards. Our two companies are a manufacturing plant and a trucking company in the same DB, not much use for sharing parts, packs, etc. I have set up a parent company to consolidate financials, but it's not used (person who learned and set up financials left).

Please let me know if there's anything else I may be able help with!

We're 9.05.700C...maybe a few more things to watch out for here.

Ever do anything other than the BAQ setup?
Just curious.... I'm sure we'll only use this for BAQ's.

Thanks for the feedback,

Bruce

Hi...

Anyone familiar with Global BAQs, Multi-Company DIRECT?

and has time to share any or your experiences?

I've been working on sharing dashboards and BAQ based reports from the original company.

- recently added new companies to E9.05.700C. system

-- as far as I know, nothing else needs to be shared across the companies.

What I've done so far:

1.) Set up Multi-Company DIRECT  records

------ I added the Ext Comp ID and the connection URL. and accepted default settings

2.) Submitted Multi-Company Direct Server Process to the startup schedule

------ The process is active in the same company the BAQs were designed.

3.) Built some Cross-Company, Global BAQ's from scratch and deployed dashboard assemblies.

-- verified the BAQ was replicated to the other companies and dashboard returns expected results in each company

I've been using the tech ref guide and answerbooks.
Did notice that 11596ESC lists a few SCR's that will probably affect this version of E9.

Thanks,
Bruce

I ended up using cross-company and unchecked the global options in my BAQs in Epicor 9. I'm not sure where the "bug line" is for those options in E9; we're on 9.05.701. You had to use the global option in Vantage, but I'm not sure if it's purpose is the same in E9. Help and testing seemed to indicate the purpose of checking the global checkbox in E9 baqs enables the baqs to be exported and imported into another company. On the other hand, the cross-company checkbox works great for me. There might be some one-off fixes available from Epicor if needed; sure wish there was someplace you can look for the one-offs. BTW...Direct was a BIG improvement over Sonic. I frequently had to stop and restart an unresponsive Sonic...not so with Direct.

Sue

Here is the SCR search page. Use your epicweb logon.

It is all versions and not the easiest to decipher. Won’t tell you if a one off exists, but will give you an scr and if the issue was fixed, what version the fix was in.

Bless you Greg! I've been trying to get help from Epicor support since June 3 as to why I could no longer access the Customer Matrix Viewer. I've searched him and low on EpicWeb, checked announcements, etc. The website URL I've used for CMV for a number of years no longer works. This one does! Thank you!!!

I ended up using cross-company and unchecked the global options in my BAQs in Epicor 9. I'm not sure where the "bug line" is for those options in E9; we're on 9.05.701. You had to use the global option in Vantage, but I'm not sure if it's purpose is the
same in E9. Help and testing seemed to indicate the purpose of checking the global checkbox in E9 baqs enables the baqs to be exported and imported into another company. On the other hand, the cross-company checkbox works great for me. There might be some
one-off fixes available from Epicor if needed; sure wish there was someplace you can look for the one-offs. BTW…Direct was a BIG improvement over Sonic. I frequently had to stop and restart an unresponsive Sonic…not so with Direct.

Hi Sue,

Seemed pretty nice on the test system here too... now on to production.

>> the "bug line"... 9.05.701
We're 9.05.700C...maybe a few more things to watch out for here.

Ever do anything other than the BAQ setup?
Just curious.... I'm sure we'll only use this for BAQ's.

Thanks for the feedback,

Bruce
