We have been struggling with tracking service history with serialized units in the field. Epicor only allows for one serial number attached to a case. Has anyone found a work around for putting multiple serial numbers in one case?
That is a catch 22:
On one hand, we only want one s/n per Case: the case is the only unique identifier in our process and can be utilized as such for a multitude of reasons (reporting / pivot tables being the big ones…).
On the other hand, for some one off scenarios where we are doing a large batch return, it could come in very handy:
- Its not practical to create 1,000 + cases for a CUSTOMER quality issue recall – so today, we only create one case for one random serial number, and then the RMA, JOB and SO shows the 1,000 + s/n’s (just as an example), which is then tied back to the CASE.
- In this scenario, it would be sweet to create one case for the one issue they are returning 1,000 + systems and have all those serial numbers linked to it and to be able to display it properly in all of our reports/programs we run.
End of day we just deal with this issue.
