Not receiving e-mail alerts with Vantage 8.03

Actually I have not solved the problem with BAM, but I have used a BPM instead.
It's a bit different but it does the same thing!

I have set an e-mail alert for whenever a new price is inserted.

One of the members is not receiving any e-mail lately, but the rest do.

What could possibly be the problem? I have checked the alert settings, the .p file that is loaded within Business Activity Manager, the user's membership for this particular group. Everything looks fine.

I was also checking the System Monitor and I have noticed that on history tasks there is an error for "Global Alerts \ Email Process.

Here is what it says in detail:

Have you already tried looking in your log files?

....\epicor\EpicorData\GlobalAlertsEmail.log

For .p error messages like this, I usually see more details in the server log.
And for mail processing errors, the other two logs can sometimes provide clues.

if you look in the sever log when this happens are there more details on the error? You can put message statements in the bam program to track values and progress thru the code.

 

One thing I found is that the subject can only be 60 characters. I had a case where I added the part number and description to the subject. A short part description would be fine, but a long one would error out.

In your email, it said "One of the members is not receiving any e-mail lately". Does this mean they did receive the email alerts previously? If so, I'd check to see at what date it stopped and look for what changed at that time - maybe email address, anti-spam settings, etc.

Yes that is right, there are 3 members of that group. 1 of them stopped receiving e-mails last week, apparently.

Did you mean 2 receipts and 1 no receipt?

If so, I wonder if something might be going on outside of Epicor
Have you successfully sent a test message from an email client to that group address?
Occasionally I run into problems at the mail server, AV/Spam filters.



When I suspect external issues with email...
I might set up a "dummy" Person/Contact in Epicor that uses the email address in question.
Then open that record in a tracker, right-click on the email address & select "Email" from the context menu. Immediate feedback compared to testing with a BAM for some types of email address/setup problems

late coming it but it sounds all that one is not receiving emails but others are.  Are you sure the email address is correct?

yes it is, I have checked it, plus that no one has even changed those settings
Could you use a BPM instead?
In 8.03.409xx I remember having an issue with a BAM email that I never could resolve.
Since then, whenever possible, I use BPM's instead of a BAM's.

Were you able to resolve this issue? I'm having the same problem with a Global Alert, where one of the recipients is not getting the e-mail (let's call him "X"). The rest get the notification just fine. In my case, X is new with the company and has never received these notifications.

I tried changing his e-mail address from the CC: box to the TO: box, and nothing. Also tried creating a dummy e-mail address that forwards to his real e-mail address, and it didn't work either. 

I just added a new user to the Global Alert and he got the e-mail just fine, but X still didn't get it. 

I'll be checking the settings for distribution lists in Exchange, but wanted to see first if you have had any luck solving this.

Exchange has a setting on both distro groups and users that all mail has to from an authenticated user.  Epicor is not authenticated, so the check box has to be unchecked.  I believe it is in the mailflow settings.

Good morning, 

 

Were you able to resolve this issue? I'm having the same problem with a Global Alert, where one of the recipients is not getting the e-mail (let's call him "X"). The rest get the notification just fine. In my case, X is new with the company and has never received these notifications.

 

I tried changing his e-mail address from the CC: box to the TO: box, and nothing. Also tried creating a dummy e-mail address that forwards to his real e-mail address, and it didn't work either. 

 

I just added a new user to the Global Alert and he got the e-mail just fine, but X still didn't get it. 

 

I'll be checking the settings for distribution lists in Exchange, but wanted to see first if you have had any luck solving this.

Exchange has a setting on both distro groups and users that all mail has to from an authenticated user.  Epicor is not authenticated, so the check box has to be unchecked.  I believe it is in the mailflow settings.

No, I just checked the log and everything looks the same for this user as for the other ones receiving the alert.
