ODBC Error

I am new to writing Crystal Reports, but for the most part it has been
going well. I am trying to write a report now and
I keep getting the following error message:

Unable to understand after "DECLARE" (247)
Then I click OK and I get
Error detected by database DLL

What I am doing wrong and how can I fix it?

There is a patch for Crystal Reports 7.0 that technical support at
Epicor e-mailed to me and also a change that needs to be made to the
registry. Once that's done, that error message went away for me.

I am in Crystal Reports and I am trying to connect through ODBC. But I
keep getting the following error:

Unable to open message: PROMSGS

How can I fix this?

Sonya,
this sounds like it might be just a problem with the settings in your
autoexec.bat file. Set DLC, Promsgs etc. I have also gotten that
message when a workstation somehow gets unmapped to the network drive
letter. If you modify the autoexec.bat file, make sure you reboot. Is
this a new issue or a new install of ODBC? 3.0 or 4.0?

Regarding the error that was posted to the list a couple of days back:

"[MERANT] Unable to understand after declare (246)"

... or whatever it was.

Go into the SQL Query in Crystal and take the regular brackets out ' ( ' and ' ) '.

DO NOT REMOVE THE CURLY BRACKETS ' { ' and ' } '

Now run the report again.

Sorted, right?

included in them.
I am linking the table 'Machine' to 'WrkCenter' using the WCCode. When I
try to run the report I get the following error:

ODBC error: [MERANT][ODBC PROGRESS driver]The keywords LEFT OUTER JOIN were
not found in an outer join escape sequence.

Any ideas?

I'm really digging through the cob webs on this one, but I think you need to
edit the type of select statement you're using. Try using the visual linking
expert, right clicking on the table link, select options, and then change
the SQL join type from the default value of "EQUAL".

That should do it.

I don't use crystal much anymore but I remember when I used to a while back
and I had this problem and there was a fix for it, but of course since it
was so long ago and I really can't remember what it was. I think it might
have been a utility to fix something in the registry but I could be way off.
I also think I might have gotten it directly from crystal. Vantage tech
support might know. Sorry I can't be of more help b/c this is ringing a
faint bell...

You are right though. There is a registry edit that you need to run
and an registry entry you need to make. There is a document on
Epicor's Eportal describing the problem. Search on Outjoin for
details. You will have to contact support to get the file sent to
you.

the error number is 247 I think if you search under crystal you will find
the document
