Off Topics - Norton

Under "File Systems Real time protection" on each client station make
sure the check box "Network" is unchecked. Under Options > click the
check box "Excluded files and folders" and click on the "Exclusion
button" Put a check beside "Check file for exclusions before scanning"
and then select the network drive to exclude by clicking on "Files and
Folders" button. Select the network drive you are mapped to for Vantage.
These settings will make Norton bypass the Vantage drive for scanning.

Hi everyone,

We just installed Norton Anti Virus Corporate and our system is
painfully slow. Are there any special settings I can do with Norton to
bypass Vantage files ?

Thanks and Happy Holidays !

In the realtime scan configuration look for "exclude files/folders" check
mark it and in there set to exclude mapped drive that point to Vantage.
Must be done on each client. Improved out logins from 3 Min. to under 10
sec. from splash to login screen.

On your Parent Server go to Parent Server Name >Right Click> All Task >
Symantec Antivirus > Client Realtime Protection Options and you can uncheck
the network box and it will not scan any network requested files for any
client under that parent. It is also a good idea to click the "padlock"
beside it to lock that option down.

Have a look back in the archives. I think this question came up last month.
Basically you have to exclude your mapped Vantage, plus we also exclude the
Vantage working directory on the local machine. I posted about a little
batch file that I made which you run on each system to make the process
easier.
