Offtopic -- out of office assistant

Check your Exchange server and see if it sends OOF replies to external
addresses.
(You'll find this in the advanced options of the Internet Mail Service in
Exchange Admin) Ours is set so it won't do that. Of course, it may not be
something you can change as others are counting on it working, but at least
check to see.

Otherwise, other are right on with the idea that the best option is to
temporarily unsubscribe or change to the digest version.

I am going on vacation in a couple of weeks and I want to activate my Out of
Office Assistant to auto-reply to incoming emails. However, I don't want
everyone of this list to be bombarded with my auto-reply. Has anybody
figured a way to exclude the vantage@yahoogroups.com
<mailto:vantage@yahoogroups.com> address from receiving an automatic
message from the Out of Office Assistant?

Thanks in advance,

Fausto

I'm not sure, but I believe you can go to the yahoo groups page and
configure it not to send you e-mails in the time your gone. You can view
the 'missed' messages on the web site when you get back, or maybe even have
someone forward them all to you....

I haven't used it before but in the "rules" there is a "Sent Directly to Me"
check box which wil exclude anything that does not explicitly have your name
in the To: field. Looks like this was intended for mail list situaitons.
If it works let me (us) know.

When I've been out, I have gone to the groups site and changed my profile to
web only, then I don't get the messages anymore. It's great, because then
they are not filling up the mailbox while you're away and you can still view
them anytime online.

Word of Warning: auto-replies usually reply to SPAM too. Replying to spam
is a good way to get a whole lot more spam!

What Todd refers to works. I used it last week for another user here.
First you set up an outlook template with whatever you want it to say. Then
point your rule to the template and leave your email running.
