Offtopic - Outlook 2000

The server can be configured so that the auto-reply only responds to
internal mailings.

Hi,

I am trying to find out where in Outlook 2000 is the setting to have all
emails automatically forwarded to a specified email address. I also wouldnt
mind finding out where I can set an "away" message so when a user is known
to be gone they can set a message up to auto-reply with additional
information.

Thanks in advance

I'm on Outlook 2002, so not sure if this is the same.

1.) "the setting to have all emails automatically forwarded to a specified
email address" - This is under 'Tools', 'Rules Wizard'. Then you just set it
to either redirect or forward all incoming emails to whatever address.

2.) " set an "away" message so when a user is known to be gone they can set
a message up to auto-reply with additional information." - This is set under
'Tools', "out-of'office assistant'.

These don't show until you click the double arrows at the bottom of the
tools menu to expand the menu.
For forwarding mail go to the rules wizard (I think).
for replies when you are out of the office got to Tools - Out of Office
Assistant

Search in help under 'Rules'. The Rules feature is a sweet tool.

I believe however that the out of office assistant is only available with an

Jim,

If you want to do automatic forwarding or set up a vacation message in
Outlook, you'll need to make use of the Rules Wizard under the Tools
menu. It's use is fairly straight-forward.

However, your email server may also support these features. Check with
your sysadmin or with the server documentation.

have fun,
john

Be careful about setting an away message with auto-reply. This can
significantly increase junk email because some mailers scan for auto-replies
and sell the address as a known "live" recipient. As a matter of policy I
highly discourage our users from using "away" messages.
