Operation quantities not reported

Depends upon how you have the labor reporting method for the OPs defined (and how you set up Manufacturing in company set up).

If the OPs are Time & Qty then the cost actuals are based on elapsed time of all activity for the OPs. If they are Qty reporting than qty matters re job cost.

If you are set up to releive scheduled load by qty, then qty matters (or your schedules will fill with junk, un-"qty finished" Op load.

It is late and I'm tired so I'm not clear on whether reporting the OPs complete cleared out the actual scheduled load (even though the OP may no longer appear on a dispatch).

There are actually 3 related fields in the JobOpr & JobOpDtl tables that represent various stages of a job OP being complete/closed - so Job Closing may be required before any straggling remaining load really gets cleaned out of your resource capacity.

We are still very early into our initial launch of Vista 8.03.403 and I
have several job travelers turned in for Completion/Closing that have
one or more operations where labor is recorded but no quantity was
reported. My initial instinct was to resolve the discrepancies, but I
am questioning the need.
Is there any affect on the final closing/costing if we leave these
Operation Quantities unresolved?
It appears that operation quantity reporting is more for production
tracking and flow and has no bearing on actual cost.

Thanks in advance for any input,

Are materials set up to back flush? Are you wanting to look at an
efficiency reports? What costing method are you using? Are jobs set up
to relieve based on quantity or based on time? What are you using to
schedule? Corrections could be done through labor entry or job
adjustments depending on timing. Why do you think there is no bearing on
cost? Did you try closing and job and see if you then have any mfg-var
for that job?
