OT: all in one over Terminal Services

Lois
I know this sounds crazy but I've made it work a number of times.
Install the printer a second time as an HP Laserjet II ( if it is a laser)
or an HP inkjet 600. Those two drivers will drive just about anything and
they are in your ntprint.inf file on your W2K TS server.

I have an XP workstation with an HP OfficeJet K all in one printer.
it is connecting to an W2K Terminal server. I can print from the
server to the remote printer, however, from the XP box where the
printer is directly connected, I can not print from TS to the local
printer. HELP!! I am very frustrated and can not see what the
problem is.

We had/have the same problem. We have a PC that we loaded the HP Officejet
corporate drivers and did not install the "normal" software, and it prints
fine. We have another laptop that connects to the terminal server, but he
let XP find the drivers, and the printer worked for a day and now it doesn't
work. Once I can get the user to give me his laptop, I will uninstall the
drivers (probably have to delete them from the registry) and install the
corporate drivers and see if it works.

I have been working on this for several weeks. When she was on W2K I got it
to work. XP is my problem. XP has a specific driver for that printer.
Therefore that driver is different than the one on the terminal server.
What driver are you referering to when you say "corporate driver"?

When you go on HP's website, it gives two different types of drivers. One
is the full feature software/driver and the other is called basic feature
software/driver. Install the basic feature software/driver. Somewhere in
HP's troubleshooting site, it mentioned corporate drivers and the
terminology stuck with me.

Lois,

The problem with TS is that it needs to support every single driver that
clients might have installed in their client pc's, and as you know now, the
driver has to have a compatibility with both your client and your TS. I got
tired of supporting drivers constantly, especially when you do not have
access to the client to fix it (in another state, etc.).

Have you consider products like Uniprint? Uniprint converts the print job to
a PDF (compressed, encrypted), sends it to the client, the Uniprint client
receives it and gives you the option to save the print job as a PDF, print
it to WHATEVER printer the client PC has installed, or email it. It is worth
the money!!!
