Is any body other than me using Uniprint? This utility converts all printing
jobs into PDF files. This makes TS faster, more secure (encrypted), and
printer driver issues are not an issue anymore. Your client should have
Uniprint Client installed (it attaches to any ICA or ICA-Web connection).
The cool thing about this is that you can modify the settings at the client
and print directly to a PDF file that you can e-mail (invoices, sales
acknowledgements, etc.)

There was a lot of "Blue Screen - Memory Dumping" issues that were easily
solved by directing print jobs to user id's rather than machines ( I have
some issues with these). The worse case scenario is that the same id is
logged in two different computers and Uniprint might send the job to the
wrong machine. Although, It is not maintenance free, TS is working better
than before. Also, home users can easily print, specifically on those
popular combos (Fax-Scanner-Copier ones).

Make sure that the client printer driver is installed on the TS, the Windows
2000 server should then automatically sense what printers the client has and
install them on the login so they can print from vantage (or the TS) to
their home on their own printer.

We had that exact problem with an HP printer and this fixed it cause even
though the client has the drivers the TS does not and therefore can't
install the client's installed printer.

I tried to run Vantage over a DSL (capacity 760K). I loaded the
Progress/Vantage
libraries on my machine, but the response was still lousy. Took 2 minutes
to log in and
about 30 - 45 seconds to get anything back from the trackers. We have
since
went to
terminal server (Y2K), and this is a nice program. I load in 30 seconds
and
the response
times are just about network equivalent. Terminal server is the way to
go.

Wondering how this has worked for anyone. We experience latency (10-20 seconds) when long listings are accessed like parts, or the Transaction History within. We have Vantage and progress loaded at the remote location on a server, and the only data going across the line is the information from the database. The line is not at capacity. Do we have no choice but to look at something like Terminal Server, or do you feel we have a configuration issue?
