OT: Anybody leasing PCs right now?

My thanx to everybody who replied. I've got several avenues to research
now, and can build different proposals for the bean-counters (said with
respect) to evaluate. Now to justify that 3GHz workstation for me...

All this talk of leasing has got me wondering: Is anybody leasing now, and
how expensive (per month, per pc) is it? The IT staff here has been cut by
75%, and we don't have the time to build from scratch anymore, and I don't
dare call Dell or HP and get a Salesrep slobbering over the phone at me
anticipating a sale when all I need is a cost guesstimate for future
plotting...

For pricing, they all have web sites where you can configure what you want or view specials that might be close without having to deal with sales people. At the current price/power ratio for desktops you can't hardly beat what most are offering, even build-your-own. Only downside is the OS bundled with them might not be what you want. For budgeting a little web surfing ought to be enough. And at these prices I can't see leasing at all. Maybe for a big server setup with lots of features but you'll end up just about paying for it anyway ($10 residual/buy out value???) and at lease interest rates to boot. With money relatively cheap at the moment straight purchase/finance looks a lot better to me. Unless there is some tax angle I'm not aware of.

I have just checked into leasing and a couple of companies are offering NO
interest leases.... the catch ( and there is ALWAYS a catch) is that they
auto renew your lease if you don't tell THEM that it is over. If you have a
really disciplined Accounting Department then you would be ok.....

I also just got some pricing where they were offering NET30, 60 Days same as
cash, and then the lease option. For my company the no brainier was 60 Days
same as cash. We get to keep our money for 30 extra days and pay no
interest.

Watch for the added $40 to $80 monthy document processing fee associated
with leasing. Also you need to consider the monthly mail, approving, check
processing fees you have in processing leases.
