Ot: xp sp2

There is a simple fix for Crystal and SP2, maybe someone should let Epicor
in on it. You just set the compatibility for the specific executable to
windows 2000 and turn the firewall off. The problems are over.
Now you all know, except Support, does someone want to make that call?

Wow, I had not heard about that. That will effect our Crystal 8.5
Professional users who have it loaded on XP. SP2 causes conflict with
Crystal.

I have been avoiding service pack 2 waiting for the dust to settle. One of
my remote salesmen installed it without asking me first. How do I uninstall
this? Can anyone tell me where to look? I don't use XP myself and I'm not
sure where to start to walk him through this over a phone.

Thanks,

Try Add and Remove programs from the control panel.

Either that of goto Windows updates and view the install log, from there I
think you can uninstall SP2 also.

If the restore service is turned on, just go in and restore to an earlier
date. I've done this will several machines, it works perfectly.

Would restore do a better job than just un-installing the service pack? He
tried control panel, add/remove software and un-installed SP2. His laptop
is still running very slow with many errors. He told he about a virtual
memory error which seems to occur often.

Any other things I should be aware of? He is in the area making sales calls
and he plans on leaving his laptop here for a couple of hours.

In theory, restore should take it back to EXACTLY where it was before you
did a given install. That is, every software change made during a given
install is reversed to the state it was before the install. It won't touch
documents and such created prior to restore. My experience has been that it
does just that and has saved some bungled installations.
