Same here, GParted has always worked on our NTFS partitions with no problem,
but we don't use compression. If you need to change a NTFS partition with
compression then I'd recommend using Microsoft's DiskPart.exe. As long as
the drive isn't the boot drive, you shouldn't need to boot into a special
mode. If it is, I've used Bart's PE Builder to make a boot CD. Not as
easy as a Ubuntu LIveCD.

without problems, but never on a server. It seems a pretty stable
product but remember it won't deal with NTFS compressed partitions.
