Photos on Badges

We have a db of the file names of the employees in the photo directory. We access this and the Vantage db using a mixed ODBC / normal db report which calls in the name of the pic, then loads it into the badge.

Steve,
No, you shouldn't need to use ODBC, but you do need a way to put them in a
database table for Crystal to be able to associate the name with the
picture. We use a third-party software package called EpiSuite that is
designed to work with a special badge printer, but you can use Microsoft
Access just as well. To use Access and Crystal Reports, create a table in
Access with a text field for the Employee Name and an OLE Object field for
the picture. Once you've created the table you can drag and drop the
pictures into the field. Then when you point your Badge report to that
database it should work the way you expect it to.

There is an RB report we made in the Advanced Report Builder class that does this. I have already uploaded it to the Yahoogroups files area. It uses a calculated field for the image, so the image name must match what is in this field. It has been a while since we did this, & we do not use the report, so you are on your own - but feel free to play with it!
