Any MRP system (not just Vantage) tends to suffer from 'the jitters' when it comes to daily action messages.
Vantage is particularly susceptible because purchasing is driven by daily changing job start/due dates (and the same for ops in those jobs to which the material requirements are associated).
Vantage is the only system I've ever seen that doesn't offer MRP planning against (planner/user) fixed Start and Req'd By dates. The actual as sched dates are then used to drive messaging to make the plan happen when it is slipping.
Vantage's paradigm is a self fulfilling prophecy for mediocrity.
That said, you CAN mitigate some/most of the MRP 'jitters' by applying acceptable days early and/or late values to parts. Minor supply/demand date mismatches within the range of that set tolerance are not passed on by MRP as a non-value added message for planners to wade through daily.

Hello....
I just started this group today so am VERY new to this process. We
are currently trying to implement this software and I have come across
a bug that I'm wondering if anyone else has seen. We are on 8.03.405
Scenario:
Purchased part has no reshedule days, receiving days etc. All
parameters on the plant are zero. Create a Sales Order for a
purchased part. Run Generate Suggestions and suggestions are created
to buy parts to the same date. Go to PO entry and create a purchase
order for the date. Run Generate Suggestions and there is a new
suggestion to move the date in 1 day so now the due date is one day
before the required date. Run Generate suggestions again and now
tells you to push the PO out.. back to the original date and this
process will go around and around in a never ending loop.
Has anyone had this problem occur on their database? Is there a
setting etc.. that we may be missing.
