Posting rule - circle dot and fixed lenghth

Hi
Is there a meaning that certain posting rule has a file folder with circle dot?

Also I want to to know if there is a way to shorten or specify a fixed length of a supplier name?
For example, I only want to retrieve 10 character from AP Invoice–Supplier–Name, how can I do?

You can retrieve the first 10 characters of supplier name using BAQ.
