I am trying to set the salesperson on quote entry to default to the person entering the quote. One of the problems that we are running into is that if you create a quote, then set the the primary salesperson to someone other than the territory default, then save the quote, it saves 2 salespeople on the quote, when I only want the person who was set as the primary. (this is before I try to do anything with BPM’s)
Does anyone know how to get around this? Ultimately we would like to set the salesperson by the user who is logged in, but even though I can set the primary salesperson on the QuoteHed with a BPM, the extra salesperson that is going into the QSalesRep table is causing me problems.
One thought that I had was to simply create a territory for each salesperson and default the territory by who is logged in. (since we don’t use territories the way Epicor wants us to). Has anyone tried that before? Pro’s/Con’s?
What version of Epicor are you using? In 10.1.600.11 we had to update Task to select the “Sales Rep” for the role code than I change all the sales territory to use the new task. Actually it was more complicated than one would think. We don’t setup the default territory by who is logged in.
We are on 10.1.600.5 . Yeah the tasks are kind of a pain because we don’t use them , so when stuff is required like that we don’t have things set up correctly. So just going through to quotes to say lost or won is a little confusing. So maybe that could have something to do with the extra salesperson. I’ll have to click around and try some stuff out.
@Banderson I have trouble with the whole Quote Process in general. Maybe it is a lack of education or training as I don’t work in that department, but even those who do always complain about the process, tasks especially.
I don’t think we did (I haven’t looked in a while) that field did get moved to the first tab that is visible so it became less of a problem so we haven’t really looked much farther into it.
