Print in 8.03.400

I just completed our upgrade from 8.03.305l to 8.03.403d in our live
environment. If anything, my users have found the system to be faster than
it was. I have nothing but positive comments. I do have a few issues with
ODBC reports that I have not yet resolved but I am working through those
slowly. I have found the BAQ reports to be much faster, in fact
considerably faster than the same report in ODBC which is in direct contrast
to what it has been in the past. I am not sure of your configuration so it
would be difficult to say what the problem might be.

Subject: [Vantage] Print in 8.03.400

Hello Everyone.
We converted from 8.00.810 to 8.03.400.
We all know the slow behavior of v8, but now printing is SO MUCH SLOWER that
it was even before.
I do not know if this was also there in .305 or just .400

Does anyone have any remedies that address the specific printing slowdown
from for these 03.x versions?

Thanks
Carey

Has anyone experienced any trouble getting kicked out of Vantage 6.1 when trying to print reports to any PDF creator? There is no error message when this occurs, it simply closes the program. We are using Adobe & Nuance for creating these PDF forms. Vantage is the only program that we are having this trouble with. Support has no solutions.

Yes. That is a known issued that Epicor is ignoring because they believe it
is a Microsoft Problem. Typically this happens because the user has to
change the default printer from a local or network printer to a pdf writer
and that's when the problem occurs. It's generally corrected by
re-launching the Vantage session.
A workaround that seems effective in most cases is before printing to pdf,
change default printer of that workstation to the pdf writer. Kind of a
pain changing back and forth, but I guess it's a choice of the worst of two
evils??

Hope this helps.

We're running Vantage 6.1 and use PDFMAILER software (www.pdfmailer.com).

Direct your print output to the virtual PDF printer and it generates the PDF
as an attachment to an unaddressed email.
Then just copy/save the attachment as required. It's worked great for us for
the last 5 years.
The price is right (i.e. free) as long as you can live with the small banner
that the software inserts at the top of the document.

We use PDF 995 as a our report printer in Vantage 6.1 and have no
problems. PDF 995 is a low cost program for $9.95.
We use PDFCreator (with v8). It's free, installs as an ordinary printer
driver and there's a server install that works very well on our
Terminal Server. I'm not sure if it works with Windows Vista though.

PDF 995 works great but it did cause us some printing issues on occasion. Printing to Adobe PDF has worked better in our case. (Server environment, Terminal Server etc)

The issue is with adobe. Other pdf creators may have the software.
It has something to do with the fact that windows assigns the adobe
pdf printer to LPT1 port. Adobe needs to have its on assigned port.
Something like like (adobe port) should be assigned when installed.
Adobe has a help sheet that tells how to configure the port. Try it,
worked for me.

I use DOROPDF(also free) to create PDFs. It just creates a print

PDF. When switching between printers we sometimes have a problem.
If I've been printing in DORO and go to change to the LaserJet - it
doesn't print or vice versa. I just open another Vantage area and
print a report (scheduled shipments) and then go back to the screen
I was in and it works again. It's also only in Vantage - again I
believe due to the change in default printer. Otherwise, DORO works
great!
