Purchase Requisitions and Job Materials

We are using purchase requisitions and sometimes the req is for Job Materials. However, if the job has already been engineered it is giving an error and not allowing the req to be turned into an actual purchase order. We are having to unengineer the job, then turn the req into a purchase order and go back and engineer the job again. Anyone have a similar issue and figure out a way around this?

This will solve the problem, but I don’t recommend doing it without talking to EVERYONE affected… this means Engineering, Planning, Production, and probably Purchasing as well.

In System Setup > Company/site Maintenance > Company Configuration > Modules > Production > Job, UNCHECK the box (about the middle of the window) labeled “Prevent Changes”.

This will allow you (and also everyone else) to make changes to jobs while they’re still in an Engineered status… which MAY NOT be a good idea.

Thanks Ernie - I will have a good conversation about this. It is nice to know that there is an option, even if it is a scary one.

Ernie is right, that is the only way to do it. I went down a similar path, and ended up allowing changes to jobs when engineered. We do have it set to track all changes made, so I can go back and see if anything was changed.

The nice thing about this though is if the material does not exist on the job, when submitting a req, it will automatically add that material to the job. Kind of a nice feature.

I thought it was dumb that Epicor has 2 features that seem to contradict eachother, or not play nicely. Sorry there isn’t a better option!
