Purchasing Non-Stock Parts to Jobs that have Inventory

• Part setup as “Non-Stock Item”.
• Put onto a job and becomes purchase direct, which is correct for a non-stock item.
• BUT we may have some inventory of the part (returned from a different job for example) which we would like to use up. However, there no visibility in Purchase Order Suggestion Entry, it looks to fulfill the total number the jobs requires regardless of inventory on-hand.
• How can we notify the purchaser on the new PO suggestions so a decision can be made on whether to purchase a part or use inventory, WITHOUT having to open time phase, purchase advisor or some other menu to manually check every part?

I’ve put together some dashboards so we can pull and issue first, but this slows down purchasing. Plus there must be a more elegant solution.

One option would be to have a BPM that does a lookup when you select an item for purchasing, and pops a message if there are some on-hand.
