Putting SQL on APM and web-portal servers

I like to keep my SQL server boxes pretty vanilla so they just do SQL. Given the chance it will hoard all system resources (especially memory) unless you throttle it back. Just my 2 cents.

Good Day:

M2K, 7.0 SP7, Informix ( not Unix), (Now)
E9, 9.05, SQL (live 7/1/2010)

E9 implementation team is suggesting that we might want to put SQL
on our third server which is running APM and Web-Portal. Not required,
but may run slow if not done.

Any comments or experiences, since we would have to buy another SQL
license?

Probably no down side, except cost.
