Receipt Label and Zebra Z4m printer not printing correctly

I am trying to print an SSRS Purchase order Receipt Label and having trouble with the orientation and scaling. The label is 6" wide by 4" high (landscape).
If I preview the label in Report Builder - I can print the label just fine. However, when I try to print without previewing and just use the Client printer - Either the label gets scaled to fit 4" wide or the orientation is incorrect.

If I preview the label as a PDF and then print it appears to print properly - although the barcodes don’t look correct (I have not tested them yet).

I tried the “trick” of setting the page size in Report Builder to 6" x 6" (so Microsoft does not try to change the orientation) and that seems to tame the orientation issue. However, as I mentioned printing using the Client Printer has never worked.

Anyone out there tamed this beast?

Thanks for any help,

This will sound crazy, but worked for us with Inventory SSRS labels. Instead of setting the label to the correct size, I had to size as a square. For us, the 4wx2h became 4x4. I tried this after many hours of testing everything else. It makes no sense, but worked for me.

Client printer never worked for me either.

When I want to print something else than a BarTender file I typically have to configure these settings on the Printer for it to work.

Basically:

  • Select the USER preference
  • Click Edit and set 4x6
  • Make sure you are doing this by going to “Devices and Printers”
  • Also sometimes you also have to do it in the Select Printer Dialog before Printing
  • Once its set, it works and sometimes resets when you update the Zebra Drivers.
