We see Vantage's performance take a nose dive when these kind of reports
are running. I was just curious if other companies have a similar
issue. I've heard people say before that they wait and run reports at
night during off hours so they don't affect performance.

It depends on who is running what reports. If you have multiple users running Stock status at the same time, yes you will get a massive slow down. and it might be best to set up schedules that will thread these reports one after the other.

There are a lot of potential situations, but if you're experiencing
noticable slow downs even when you're only running 1-2 reports, you may want
check your appservers. If you're not running enough of them, it can
exacerbate these kind of issues.

6 hours to run (which is pretty much the entire shift).

By the time you check it and make sure you are happy with it, it is the next
day.

We have started to run it over night on a weekly basis to see if that makes
things easier.

It's not great - especially when you consider the next part (forgotten what its
called) also takes the same amount of time.

I have added an extra app server just for running reports - I have instructions on adding additional app servers if you want a copy?

Also have you tried a dump and load?
