Sales Kit Assembly?

Make it a manufactured part, add an operation of Kit Build or Kit Assembly and then create the job. That will be the only way to capture time (and cost) for that level part.

You can keep it as a “kit” with the parts being material parts pulled from inventory, but it no longer becomes a ‘kit’ for the purpose of the manufacturing system nor can you ship partial kits and maintain a backlog.

Sales Kit assembly is an overhead cost much like most shipping and receiving operations are overhead.

We sell several different "Sales Kit" parts, these kits are all different and can contain up to 50 or 60 subcomponents, I am looking for a way to capture time spent "building" these kits and have the costs assocciated with the kit part, not the subcomponents. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Purchasing is no longer allowed to delete an incorrect line on a PO after it has been received to a job. Even when I delted the Receipt record.I get the error message "Delete not allowed. Referenced by at least one Material Activity.".

Are there any work arounds available?

Thanks,

If you use AMM, go into Production Management --> Data Collection --> Advanced Material Management and open the Material Request Queue.

Sort/search for the Part Number that was on that PO line and look in the reference column and you should find some reference to that Part Number and PO. Delete that record and you should be OK.

Thanks for your reply Vic!

I tried what you suggested, however I am getting the following error: "No employee attached to my user" I think this means there is no shop employee attached to my username. I tried creating a new shop employee for myself with no success.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks

What we have done, is create a part number called "Item Removed". When ever we run into this situation, we return the item that was issued, or delete the PO reciept if purchased direct. Then change the material part number to Item Removed. You can put some quantity in you inventory at not cost and issue if you want of just let it go with out issuing anything. The demand goes away once the job is closed. This has be our work around for years.

Lee We set up a configured parts Example (Kit 1) where the sales people go in and choose which parts they want in the Kit. We used a "Pack" operation on the Kit 1 part. When the order goes thru someone clocks in under that operation and gathers the parts for that order.

Lissette, After creating the Shop Employee did you go back into User Management to your user login and assign that Shop Employee to your User Login? (On the Company Tab)
