Make it a manufactured part, add an operation of Kit Build or Kit Assembly and then create the job. That will be the only way to capture time (and cost) for that level part.
You can keep it as a “kit†with the parts being material parts pulled from inventory, but it no longer becomes a ‘kit’ for the purpose of the manufacturing system nor can you ship partial kits and maintain a backlog.
Sales Kit assembly is an overhead cost much like most shipping and receiving operations are overhead.

Subject: [Vantage] Sales Kit Assembly?
We sell several different "Sales Kit" parts, these kits are all different and can contain up to 50 or 60 subcomponents, I am looking for a way to capture time spent "building" these kits and have the costs assocciated with the kit part, not the subcomponents. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
