Salvage Material - ver 5.00.322

Can I get your comments on this... does it apply to us at all. I know it is
a question but I wondered if it pertained to our operation.

Subject: [Vantage] Salvage Material - ver 5.00.322

In 4.0 we were able to return material back to inventory from a job in
quantities greater than what was issued to the job by using salvage
material. We do this when we issue the job virgin plastic material and at
job completion we are able to salvage useable regrind material (different
part number and lower value). This worked well for us because it increased
inventory and reduced the material cost of the job, which is how we wanted
to evaluate our jobs. Epicor viewed this as a bug and in 5.0 'fixed' it.
Now, you can not salvage anything in any greater material cost or quantity
than was issued to the job. We cannot use receipts from manufacturing for
an assembly, because it does not reduce the material costs on the job.
Epicor support could offer no other alternative. Before I spend time
looking for other methods, I was wondering if anyone was doing anything
similar in 5.0 that could give me a starting point.
