Scheduled hours for workcells

You would probably want to set each operation's crew size to 0.33 for this
particular part routing. I assume you are also using each of these machines
independently at times. If they are always run together as a 3 machine
group it would probably be best to consider the group as a single work
center.

I think I have your solution.

Have you tried Work Cell Machine 1, set to "FINISH-START" scheduling.
Then set up the the second Machine as "FINISH-FINISH" scheduling.
Then setup the third operation/Machine3 as "FINISH-FINISH" scheduling.

This should give you the scheduling accuracy you need.

Note if you work with it you will find "FINISH-FINISH" will work a little
better than "START-START" because you are telling vantage if machine 2 or 3
is a little faster rate than the prior operations that you can't finish
before the prior operation is done, if you know what I mean.

Subject: [Vantage] Scheduled hours for workcells

We have an ongoing problem here with Vantage scheduled hours versus
how jobs are actually ran when we setup workcells. For example, we
have a job that uses (3) separate workcenters(machines) each with its
own operation in the routing. Our workcenters are setup to match one
for one with a specific machine, setup with (1) person and (1)
machine per each of these operations. The problem is that we have the
rate set for these machines equal to the pieces per hour we expect,
let's say 200 per hour. So vantage looks at the hours needed for 200
pieces to be 1 hour for each operation, or a job total of 3 hours.
When in actualy it only takes 1 hour to do all three operations
because only 1 person is running all three machines at the same time.
I am curious at how others have their workcenters and routing setup
for workcell type environments.

Thanks,

Fred

Check how you have scheduling set for this op.
"Start to Start" should give the schedule you are looking for. This will
allow part #1 to move on to next operation while #2 is being started on the
first op. At least that is the theory as I understand it.
It sounds like you have this operation set up as "finish to start", where
all parts must finish op 10 before any can start op 20.

This is new info to me, so if anyone understands it better, please correct
me.

Hope this helps.
