[Semi-OT] Printer Issue HP LJ 2600n

Try logging in as admin, install the printer, and while still connected
as admin, see if it works.

This sounds like a profile problem.

Hmmmm...I've uninstalled and re-installed several times but only from
the server controlling it (including the My Network Neighborhood method)
and those didn't work. I've thought about installing it via the
downloaded setup that I used on the server and pointing it to the server
but had not done that yet. I guess I'll have to try that.

"Doe snot" would be funnier except that it happens from time to time on
my office window from the local herd outside. Once in awhile they get
curious and bump their nose on the glass while peering in at me. Today
though it's a dozen wild turkeys and only the Toms can can reach high
enough to look in. Startles the heck out of me when the sneak up and do
that! Big old ugly snake like head popping up over the sill. But then
not everyone can honestly say they really do work with a bunch of
turkeys. ;)

If you are using this as a network printer, I don't believe this printer
can be installed without its software being installed on each user. Did
you try the old re-install? (only twice?) All of the systems connected
to my 2660 are W2K.

When I right click on the printer under My Network Places it doe snot
give me an Install option...just Connect and Open and neither installs
the printer. I used to do it this way in Win98. Is there a trick in
Win2K to install a printer from the network browse?

I have a really odd printer issue. We installed a new Color LaserJet 2600n recently and everything is fine except for one user. Of course that one is my boss. He can't print anything to it EXCEPT the test page and Vantage print screens (F6). Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Wordpad, Acrobat Reader...all fail.

What would make Vantage "special". I've seen many posts about being able to print from anything BUT Vantage but this is the reverse.

He is running Win2K-Pro and has the latest service pack and updates. Printing to all other printed works fine (HP, Ricoh, PDF files). I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer after loading the server with the latest downloaded drivers and that did not help.

Any ideas?

Just a wild shot, try deleting the printer on the client and
readding by going through My Network places. Sometimes makes a
difference.

Darned if that didn't look like exactly the fix...but it did not work. There were no files stuck in the spool/printers folder and the stop/start on the service did not help.

But thanks anyway. It was a really good suggestion.

I have a really odd printer issue. We installed a new Color LaserJet
2600n recently and everything is fine except for one user. Of course
that one is my boss. He can't print anything to it EXCEPT the test page
and Vantage print screens (F6). Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet
Explorer, Wordpad, Acrobat Reader...all fail.

What would make Vantage "special". I've seen many posts about being
able to print from anything BUT Vantage but this is the reverse.

He is running Win2K-Pro and has the latest service pack and updates.
Printing to all other printed works fine (HP, Ricoh, PDF files). I
uninstalled and reinstalled the printer after loading the server with
the latest downloaded drivers and that did not help.

Any ideas?

give me an Install option...just Connect and Open and neither installs
the printer. I used to do it this way in Win98. Is there a trick in
Win2K to install a printer from the network browse?

to my 2660 are W2K.

Hmmmm...I've uninstalled and re-installed several times but only from the server controlling it (including the My Network Neighborhood method) and those didn't work. I've thought about installing it via the downloaded setup that I used on the server and pointing it to the server but had not done that yet. I guess I'll have to try that.

"Doe snot" would be funnier except that it happens from time to time on my office window from the local herd outside. Once in awhile they get curious and bump their nose on the glass while peering in at me. Today though it's a dozen wild turkeys and only the Toms can can reach high enough to look in. Startles the heck out of me when the sneak up and do that! Big old ugly snake like head popping up over the sill. But then not everyone can honestly say they really do work with a bunch of turkeys. ;)
