Â
Ken,
We are in the process of importing serial numbers from an previous system and have this same problem. There are two thoughts we had to get this changed. Still testing to see which one is best.
1) Run the sn through the rma process and disposition to a job for the new part number. Then receive that job to inventory. Internal ship the part back to the customer at not charge.
2) Change the SN status to inventory. Do and inventory adjustment to get the SN in stock. Issue the part to a job to make the new part number. Receive the new part number into stock with the old SN. Adjust the SN to shipped with the customer number. Inventory adjust the part back out of stock.
