One additional thing we have done with this is to create a short progress
program that is called from a VB button in the order tracker screen that
will display all the shipping information on the screen (ship date, carrier,
pro#, etc.) from the BOL table. This simplifies getting this information
immensely for sales/customer service people.

The BOL header has a field called Pro Number. Works great if you're using
BOL's.

Haven't got there yet on this one but have been considering using a memo
type (such as TRK) on the shipment header. Downside is that linking and
filtering for this in RB reports (to select memo type) is pretty slow. I am
doing this on a few other files. If it is just for lookup purposes then I
would definitely suggest a memo as opposed to VB form field on each ship
detail. My $.02.

The other day I was reading change lists on epicor's website and I think I
read something about this functionality added. Could have been 5.0 changes,
5.1 changes or even the suggestions for the next release, I don't really
remember.

The log field in the packing slip header is for the tracking numbers.
Unfortunately the field isn't long enough for all tracking numbers. Add
your name to the suggestion to increase the length. Kind of interesting
that Epicor has a field for tracking numbers, but doesn't take the time to
research if they will actually fit in the field (UPS doesn't). We work
around it by not entering the first 6-8 digits, which are always the same
for a company.

We use the comments on the first line of the packing slip and then duplicate
the comments so that it is automatically on the invoice. Then you can use
order tracker and click on the invoice and go into invoice tracker and pull
up the tracking number for that shipment. Works pretty well for us.

I was just informed by a reliable source that the log field in the packing
slip header will be increased to 40 characters in 5.1. We have been heard
(not now, but from prior suggestions to support). Keep adding your names
to suggestions. If you want it changed, tell Epicor. It's the only way it
is going to get done.

I wonder if this link capability will be extended to Customer ePortal so
that customers can check their own shipment progress. As long as the
tracking ID is in Vantage this would be a very good feature with which to
sell ePortal.

That PS log field is currently showing the BOL number. I do not want that
to change.
