Shipping Kits

I just tried that, running out of ideas to try, and it worked.
Thanks for the help.

Instead of manually entering the line numbers try clicking the Mass Ship
button and make any modifications after the system has pulled in the
line items

Subject: [Vantage] Shipping Kits

A sales order has a single line, a Kit with 2 components.
The Kit is set as a sales kit in part master, and on teh Sales Kit tab
is set "Must ship kit complete"

in Customer Shipment Entry, add a new line, enter line 1 and tab off of
it receiving this message:

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -
Exception caught in: Epicor.Mfg.BO. CustShip

Error Detail
============
Message: Order line is for a Kit Parent. Only Kit Component lines can be
entered when the Ship Kit Complete flag is set to false.
Type: Error
Program: bo/CustShip. p
Method: GetOrderRelInfo
Table: ShipDtl
Row:
Field: OrderRelNum
------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -

I am confused by the message, "only component lines can be entered with
Ship Kit complete is false" because the "Must Ship Kit Complete"
checkbox in Part Master (Plants tab, Sales Kits tab) is checked true.

What am I missing here?

Thank you for any help you can offer,
Tony

We sell a part that can be sold in kits of either 3, 6, 9, 12 or 15
pieces/kit, our customer want to give us 5 different part numbers to
associate with these kits depending on the quantity ordered. Does
Vantage allow us to stock the part with our part number then sell them
using anyone of the 5 customer's part numbers.

Not sure I this sound clear, but I hope you get the picture.

Try this.

Customer wants 5 of the Kit3's, and 5 of the Kit6's which is 45 of our
parts.

Sales Line entry your part A, customer part Kit3, Order Qty 5, Factor
.33333, Our Qty = 15
Sales Line entry your part A, customer part Kit6, Order Qty 5, Factor
.16666, Our Qty = 30

Down side in order entry you can enter Kit6 and it will load your Part A but
not the conversion factor you will have to enter the correct conversion
factor each time in order entry and will most likely need a audit report for
this. Do all sales order line items with Kit6 in the customer part field
have .16666 in the factor field.

Rich,

I think I've got a solution, but you will need to test it fully.

- Create new Parts: Kit3, Kit6, Kit9, etc.
- For each Kit, set the Selling Factor to 0.333, 0.667, etc. so 1
Kit3 on a sales order creates a demand for 3.
- For each Kit, use the "Substitutes" tab to create a link to the
single part (Part X).
- On the Sales Order, select the Kit, then use the Substitute
button to select Part X. The selling factor remains the same, so
now you are pulling 3 Part X for this customer's need.
- Set up the customer's part number cross reference, and Kit3
should show up on their paperwork. (I didn't test this step out.)

I hope this at leasts give you some new ideas.
