You need all three, definitely one of the worst interfaces for this type of function I have ever encountered. The alert group must be defined, then a person must be assigned to the alert group AND that person has to be on a production team that get assigned to a job within job entry.
So after some research its seems that you need to set up and Alert Group (Job Management -> Setup) Then enter in a Person record in the Person form in the same directory. Enter the "person's" an email address and below will be a listing of any "Alert Groups" that have been created. Additionally make sure that the System General settings are correct within company maintenance. The final step that needs to be done is to make sure that the email server process (System Management -> utilities) is running on a schedule.
In application help check out Job Management -> setup programs for alert groups and person maintenance
You can also check out System management Company Configuration - System - General Settings
and System Management - Utilities - Global Alerts / Email Server process

We are getting a lot that are failing to send with an SMTP error of "SMTP: No Email recipients"I have gone through all the Person configuration and even set up in the Person.CnvEmpID field with the Employee ID number. Each employee has a valid email address and each employee has a valid supervisor.Even Epicor cannot send over any docs on how these Shop Warnings need to be configured so any help or ideas would be helpful. Thanks,John
All of those settings have been checked and are correct.
Is it possible that Epicor is passing the information to the SMTP server however the to addresses are getting stripped at some point?
John
They are just showing up in the Global Alert Log in Epicor. To make it even stranger, the epicor-smtp.log file is showing that they have valid addresses, and are being sent. The GlobalAlertsEmail.log is then showing: Email Send Failure - SMTP Code:-1 No Email recipients
John
Do you have the Clients Configuration file configured to use your SMTP Server?
We do not have the clients config files configured, however, shop warnings are sent via the Global Alert process which is running on the server.
John
I don't even have an epicor-smtp log file :(
I'm still looking into this
It's in the oe102a_WRK directory.
John
Nope, is not there, when I was on call with support the tech told me that the file would not be created unless there was communication between the mail server and the app server. I know that my ports and company configure are correct but the application doesn't seem to want to work... I have no shop warnings in my shop tracker, no alert errors in my alert log, stumped. Gonna keep calling until they answer, I think I just got hung up on XO.
Do you need a full domain qualifier in company configuration for it communicate with the server?
Our company config is just the UNC to our mail server.
John
!!! I have achieved success!
You need to add the person records to a production team. Then the production team needs to be assigned to a job. When a shop warning occurs for the job any people on the production team will receive the email.
Wait, so you are saying that the Alerts are not managed by the Alert Groups?
