It has something to do with planning.
I discussed using sub-assemblies with them for materials, to account for the amount of bars required for a job rather than just the number of inches (partial bars are not often useable for us).
Apparently a few years ago they tried this, and the demand wasnt being properly generated when using sub-assemblies. This caused a lot of scheduling problems, and so they discontinued the use of sub-assemblies.
I will bring it up again in our next meeting.
