Support Plan, "Auto-Upgrade"

If I'm not mistaken, Everyone is "auto-upgraded".

I subscribe to Epicor's Standard Support plan. Last year my yearly
maintenance invoice was more than expected. It turned out I was upgraded
to the Premium Plan. I called and they fixed it, no problem.

This year the same thing happened. They're fixing it again but I'm
curious, is anyone else out there being "auto-upgraded"?

Invoicing for an upgraded support plan is standard Epicor procedure. They
do it to us every year and every company that I have talked to about this at
the local user group meetings says Epicor does the same thing to them every
year as well.

Here's a thought: NEXT year (if it happens again) tell them you are notifying the SEC of the practice & you believe it is being done in an effort to inflate their sales revenue & defraud stock holders.

Wouldn't be the 1st (and won't be the last) public company to play this (quite illegal) shell game.

- So, when they adjust your invoice, is the reduction a credit or a total rebill that clearly states the lower tier of contracted support? (If it is a credit/adjustment they ARE probably cooking the books.)

Yup: Cookin the books. Inflates gross sales reported (significantly) & is offset by high cost of sales (negotiated discount) entries (that make them look customer service oriented to potential investors).
Very disturbing.

When you were on the 'premium plan' did you receive better support?

Thanks for the comments.

I didn’t upgrade to the premium support plan so I can’t speak for it. I talked to Epicor and they re-billed me for the standard support plan I signed up for. The Premium Plan does not promise better support but it does allow round the clock access to support and slightly faster resolution time.
