For us it works a bit differently,

We get the bill, we call and complain
We get a new quote , we call and complain They said there is nothing they can do we threaten to cancel maintenance they give us a new quote we call and complain they tell us there is nothing they can do we "give back" modules we don't use they say no, here is a new quote we complain they say no we complain they cancel our maintenance we call back and get a new quote we pay for the quote

The whole thing take about 2 months LoL

Hi All,

We just received our invoice from Epicor for our annual support. Ugh! :-(

My question to you: have any of you changed from a Premium Plan to the Standard Plan - or vice versa? We're on a Premium Plan - and while we haven't received a quote yet for downgrading it to a Standard Plan, I'm curious if one can really tell the difference.

We're pretty basic - Monday through Friday, 40 hour workweek.

Thanks in advance!
Laraine
Standard.... Have seen little to no justification for premium. Wait queues are the same. You don't get a "special" support phone number to call into or dedicated email contact, so really what's the point?

We are on the basic plan, you get support from 8-5 not weekends and not
after hours, its signification cheaper and its not like Epicor support is
that great to begin w.

I’m not sure why anyone would pay for the Premium tier. You’ll save about 20%, I believe, by moving to the Standard Tier. Be a hero in your company and have Michael Weisenbeck @ Epicor switch you to Standard and save some $$. :-)

For us the difference is 23% for premium and 20% for standard, so it's not a huge difference but it also depends on what you negotiated. If your operation is weekdays, there really isn't a need to pay for premium. Besides, you can still get support after hours in a crisis they just charge you a high incidental fee. We're pretty close to a 24/7 operation and we still just use standard support.

Yeah, most of the gang in MSP is good. I so much enjoy hearing a tech from
Monterrey, MX on the phone typing your question into their knowledge base to
resolve your question.

Jose,

Hah - they probably include these calls in their average call time. Nothing
like quite a few 1 second calls to bring that average down.

In some companies, they even take your approach to a more sophisticated
level. We use a two person calling system. The first person calls, and if
they get some of the dreaded techs, you keep them on the line long enough
while a second person calls and gets a different tech. That saves the call
backs just to keep getting the same tech.

Thanks to everyone for their input - it does provide food for thought...

James: Yes, 3% isn't much, and I don't know what our company originally negotiated. I'm really looking forward to seeing the quote for Standard and how it compares to Premium. Our internal Epicor support is pretty mature, which is the only reason why I might push for the lower level.

Jose: In my original post, I really tried to avoid stating that "Epicor Support" is an oxymoron - but I think you did it for me - so thanks! :-)

Hi All,

We're getting ready to pay next month, and this is very interesting to m.

What does this mean 23% for premium and 20% for standard? Percent of what?

How do you go about negotiating? It feels like there's little room for that, since, of course we need some support and can't just write Epicor support off ~ although it certainly is very tempting some days :)

Thanks,
Nancy

Ahhh... perhaps I stand corrected. I do know we have successfully negotiated for rate based from purchase price. You may be correct on what is standard.

Subject: [Vantage] Re: Epicor Premium Support Plan vs. Standard Support Plan

Thanks,
Nancy

Without a supplemental agreement with Epicor maint is % of the MSRP list
price. Even if you paid a discounted amount for the software the maint is
still based on its MSRP without a supplement.

For example, without any special negotiations, DMT is 3200 dollars list. The
std maint would be 640 per year and the prm maint would be 736 per year.

In our case we have a supplemental that for the first 5 years of main we get
a reduction on the cost of our maint of 20% so instead of the 640 for our
std maint for DMT we pay 512.

Make sense?

Of course that makes sense...but if you talk to the right people you don't need a supplemental.

This was always the case unless it ha changed in the last two years.
