Tracking downtime of a machine

We use an OPC server with FactorySQL to read tags from the machines PLCs to automatically log downtime. The users can put reasons in on screens, but the downtime is logged no matter what.

How you all track the downtime of a machine. Say the machine breaks down for 3 hours of a 8 hour day. Is that something that you put down in Epicor?

We do... at least only for reactive maintenance purposes... it's a very basic concept, but it does allow us to track machine downtime for unplanned maintenance purposes. We simply have a barcoded badge for each machine that the employee logs into as an indirect labor code that we made expressly for that purpose. Each machine is setup as a shop employee (no labor rate).

How you all track the downtime of a machine. Say the machine breaks down for 3 hours of a 8 hour day. Is that something that you put down in Epicor?

We have not implemented it yet, but our intent is to have our maintenance employees clock into a job as setup (coded indirect), and when they "End Activity" there are a custom set of drop down boxes that can be used to describe the issue that was occurring. These drop down boxes are bound to the laborDtl records and can be retrieved as such for reporting.
