Have you thought of adding the guage to your bill of material as a material,
issuing it to the job, then salvaging it back into inventory? Depending on
needs you could "lot track" then issue to the job. If the gage is in the
Parts master you would have a "where used" history.

We are a fabricator of nuclear containers and hardware using Vantage
5.20. We use Gauge Trak to catalog usage of each gauge,
approximately 1500 at this time. In Vantage, we need to track each
gauge used on each job by gauge number, (our internal number), used
on each assembly. For example we need to select a gauge, ID# (CD-
072), and show the history of each and every job, and operation it
was used on. In our current system all of this info has to be
entered manually. We want to be able to record this information in
Vantage, if possible, by bar coding each gauge used on each
operation. Does anyone do this in Vantage or know of another
application which gives us this ability.
