David, you can run the sales order status dashboard and click on open releases. It will show you the open value and open quantity which is in essence your backorder. May not be the best solution but its a quick bandaid

Subject: [Vantage] Tracking SO Backorders

We have a problem here that cannot be that uncommon. 99% of our Jobs
are linked to a SO. There are occasions where we are missing a part in
a Job that is linked to a Sales Order line. The SO line must ship so,
we issue the missing Job part driving the inventory negative, complete
the Qty for the Job, issue the completed Job assemblies to a PackList,
and ship it. Now there are no remaining demands in the system, no
requirements, and therefore no backorder tracking. The problem is
tracking a part that is a component of a SO line. Somebody writes it
on the palm of their hand and when it comes in, we hope we remember to
send it out on a miscellaneous packslip. Yes we can create an Excel
tracking spreadsheet. Yes we have a white board to write it on. Has
anyone created a process for tracking this in Epicor?
Thank you in advance,
DaveH
