That is the basic jist of it, however..... Test Test Test
Even a small customer needs to test. I can't quite tell, but the way you are
asking the question it sounds like he is just going to jump right into the
actual upgrade when he receives the disk.
If so, BAD PLAN.
Test, Test, Test
Find a workstation, XP, 7 or whatever and throw the installation on there
first, then bring the DB over to it to make sure everything runs ok through
all the conversions.
This will help work out any bugs in the conversion process, but will also
make sure that the installation was done correctly as well.
But time wise, yes, he can get this done over a weekend, technically it is
possible to install .40x on a system that is live and running .30x at the
same time... not the most recommended thing, but even so, the installation
of .400 can be done on the live server over the course of a week spending an
hour or 2 before or after the general work day to get it installed, and then
spend the time on Sat doing the actual data conversions and fixing whatever
else the upgrade breaks that was found during the testing phase.
Having the test server can also allow him to get any and all customer
reports, dashboards, etc fixed prior to the update weekend and then just
roll them over after everything else is all set.

Subject: [Vantage] Upgrade from .305L to .409C
A colleague of mine asked me and I couldn't answer this with certainty so I
was wondering if you all could help.
He's on Progress. OE ver 10.0B 0546
Vantage 8.03.305L
It seems 8.03.409C is the latest ver on Epicweb.
What is the upgrade path?
He said you need to get the .400 DVD from Epicor and he ordered that.
Once he has that in hand I believe the DVD has OE 10.1 on it and Vantage
.400.
So we go through that install and then:
1) Apply the OE 10.1B SP3 Hot Fix 33
2) Vantage .409 Service Pack
3) Vantage .409 Help
4) Vantage .409C Patch
5) Vantage .409C Help
Would that be correct?
Obviously prior to doing anything I'll ensure I back up the database and
entire \epicor share to somewhere else.
Any other guidance, tips or input? He's a relatively small customer (<
20 users) ..... he should be able to do all of this on a weekend, correct?
Current Progress database size = 1.3GB.
Thank you in advance.
Vic
